Wake

Close your eyes and drift
To
Sleep.
Feel at
Peace. Like a fading distant
Breeze, a song in the cave of
Light.
But not for long.
Your cave’s light shatters into
Darkness, enclosing you in its
Grasp.
Head spinning,
Arms flailing, you fall
To the
Ground.
A searing pain erupts
from your
skull, a scar forming above your
eye.
A girl runs down a gravel driveway, running
for
her life.
A man, face stricken and
murderous, reaches
out and drags
her down.
You scream from where
you lie,
“Let me help you!”
The girl stares wide-eyed
Into the darkness, fighting and screaming.
She calls out for help.
The ringing in
Your
Head comes
To an
End almost immediately.
The man evaporates, bright
Beams of sunlight Enveloping
his body.
DARKNESS SUDDENLY LIGHTENS AND THE NIGHTMARE
ENDS.
She is at peace, content with
The world she
Created.
You stand from the ground
And close your eyes.
Fall out of peace, leave behind
Sleep.
Eyes now open wide, back in
Reality,
Arms are around you,
As they awaited
Your
Wake.
